If witnessing the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta is an item on anyone's bucket list ...
... then going up in one of the hundreds of balloons during a Mass Ascension would be even more of a dream.
Last week, Benson and I did both!
Our first experience was a Balloon Glow the evening we arrived.
Take a look at the movie below to see what we saw.
(Note: I've uploaded medium-sized versions of these slide shows. They might take a while to download. If nothing appears and you want to view the slide shows, email me to let me know and I will send them to you as attachments in 3 separate emails.)
The next morning, we joined a morning Mass Ascension, when all the balloons take to the air...including the balloon that held Benson, me and 4 other guests, plus a pilot, of course. Take a look:
What could be more convenient than parking Shamu in the middle of it all? The Balloon Fiesta included daily Mass Ascensions, and a fair that surrounded the park. Can you pick out your favorite balloon? (Please note: I've included only a fraction of the balloons we saw and photographed...but you will get the idea.)
Staying at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Park was our first experience dry camping for more than an overnight. We managed just fine, and would not have traded the luxury of a few amps of electricity for the experience of camping on site at the Fiesta!
Now we are enjoying the Hill Country of Texas. Talk later!
